Description
Limited 180 gm vinyl LP pressing in gatefold sleeve. Mirror Moves was the fourth studio album by The Psychedelic Furs, recorded and released in 1984. Drummer Vince Ely had left the group, leaving Richard Butler and Tim Butler along with guitarist John Ashton to carry on. For this project, producer Keith Forsey handled the drumming. The album included the dance hit "Heartbeat" and the chart hits "Heaven" and "The Ghost in You". Despite substantial success internationally, "Heaven" was not released as a single in America. Instead, another track from the album, "Here Come Cowboys", was released and the video for it received some airplay on the then, very new and popular MTV network. Despite strong sales and warm reviews, it was another three years before the band released their next studio album.

At the outset, I have to admit that I'm a major Furs fan and always have been. That said, for me 'Mirror Moves' represents the ultimate Furs album. I know the criticisms; that it's too polished, too commercial. So what? Is there some reason the Furs aren't allowed to sell records? I only hope they're enjoying the residuals. The fact remains that 'Mirror Moves' is full of brilliant songs and incredibly tight performances. I remember being near the cashier at Tower Records on Broadway long ago, when this album was playing over the sound system. One customer after another came up and asked what it was.The only negative worth mentioning is the amateurish album cover art--don't let that dissuade you. What with MP3s and streaming it's pretty irrelevant now anyway. Unlike this music.
